Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) was formally launched in Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan in July 2010.

Target People: All rural poor who are prepared to do manual, unskilled labour.
- Launched in 150 of the most backward districts of India with the objective of generating supplementary wage employment.
- Implemented as a centrally-sponsored scheme.
- The collector is the primary officer at the district level and has overall responsibility
- Food grains will also be provided to the states free of cost. The transportation cost, handling charges, and taxes on food grains will, however, be responsibility of the States.
- This program was merged with the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) in February 2006.
