Ruhr valley is an area in west Germany rich in minerals ,specifically coal, which led to the development of many iron and steel industries in the valley region.Damodar valley in India (spread across Jharkhand and West Bengal),which is rich in coal and mica leading to the development of a vast industrial belt in the valley with industries including high capacity thermal power plants and three big steel plants of India.
So Damodar Valley is also called the ‘Ruhr’ of India.
